From an early age Sonja was fascinated by the art of painting pictures of life with all its emotions. She experimented with kid's drawing sets, and later with her aunt's camera.

When she started attending rock concerts at the age of 15 she was intrigued by the power and energy that was able to stir the emotions of the audience as well as the artists on stage.

So Sonja decided to study graphic design with a strong focus on illustration and photography at the university of applied science in Düsseldorf. While on holiday in Manchester in 2004 she coincidentally bumped into ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr who was so impressed by her work that he organized an exhibition for her at Manchester's well-known "Night And Day Café". Since then her artwork has appeared in German and International publications.

She currently lives and works in Cologne.
